An award for excellence has been won by Thorn for its tough Gladiator luminaire. At the annual Illuminating Engineering Society of Australia and New Zealand - New South Wales Chapter Lighting Awards, Thorn was the top entry out of 14 in the luminaire section. The award was bestowed at the Sydney Convention Centre on November 16. The Gladiator range of IP66 rated, vandal-, dust- and water-resistant, luminaires has been specially designed and tested over the past two years to operate with great efficiency and safety in the often onerous environment of heavy industrial sectors and extractive industries.

With a die-cast aluminium body and polycarbonate diffuser rated at 4 x IK10 (80 joules), the luminaire withstands high impact, while a "Safe-T" locking system provides ease-of-installation and maintenance.

Gladiator is available in a range of light engines, including LED, T5 and T8, with digital dimming, LED emergency module or eSMART sensor options. The range uses a dual light optic for its LED solution and is designed to give a precise light distribution and uniformity similar to traditional fluorescent lamps.

Gladiator is available in Australia and New Zealand markets only.
